A survey has found that the internet is the place where people are more likely to share stories about their experiences with violence and harassment, with the women’s forums and the women in Europe more likely than the UK.
The survey of 2,000 women, published by the Women’s Forum, found that a strong emotional connection is what keeps many people in touch with each other online.
The forum’s founder, Joanna Clements, said online communities such as forums, blog comments and video chatrooms could be a way of connecting women in a number of ways.
“It’s a very personal space and that connection to other people is very important, so you want to have a space where you feel connected,” Ms Clements said.
“The way you can do that is to use social media, or even to do video chat.”
While there has been a resurgence in online activism since the #MeToo movement, the rise of platforms like the #GamerGate movement and the #BlackLivesMatter movement, Ms Cricksons survey also showed that women in the UK and Europe were most likely to talk about the experiences of violence and abuse online.
Women in the US and Europe are much more likely at times to discuss issues relating to online harassment, and it is this type of online communication that is being highlighted by the #Ferguson hashtag.
The #Feds are investigating the role of Twitter in the #GamersGate and #Gamergate cases.

Clements said the rise in internet conversation and debate had a huge impact on women in both the UK (around 25 per cent) and Europe (around 17 per cent).
“The women in these countries are being more outspoken and speaking out,” Ms Mcloughlin said.
We’ve also seen a lot of women speak out about their experience of online harassment and violence, and that’s a great thing. “
I think there’s a real opportunity for the internet and technology to help women in those areas and not just the men in the world, but women across the world.”
We’ve also seen a lot of women speak out about their experience of online harassment and violence, and that’s a great thing.
“We’re seeing a lot more women coming forward about it.”
Ms Mccloughlin added that the rise to prominence of #GamerGaters, the movement for ethics in video game journalism, had led to a lot women taking a stand against misogyny.
“These are people who are not only fighting against the people who abuse them but also the people they love,” she said.
Ms Crows said it was important for women to have spaces online that allowed them to talk openly and freely.
“You don’t need a platform to have that conversation,” she added.
The #GamerGs have also led to the creation of forums such as the European Women’s Forums, which have grown into an international forum for women and girls.
The UK-based forum, which was launched by the UK-US team of the #gamergate campaign, has grown from a small group of women in England to around 250 active members.
Ms MCCLOUGHLIN said the forum was a way for women in Britain to “speak up about our experiences of harassment and to find support and support from other women”.
“We have all heard the stories of the women who have been harassed online, or the women that have been abused online,” Ms McCloughlins said.
“I think what we need to remember is that we are all vulnerable to this sort of behaviour, whether it’s online or offline.”
The UK forum has also seen the rise and spread of online forums for women with their own voices.
The site Feminist Frequency, for example, has spawned its own online community and is now offering an anonymous space for women’s stories.
However, many of the online communities, like the UK’s Women’s Interest, are closed off to women.
“In many cases, we can’t even see each other,” Ms McCloughlin warned.
The Women’s Issues Forum has now launched a #WomenFacts project to help educate people about the prevalence of violence against women and how to help people understand it. “
So when you’re a woman in a different country or different community and you see this growing, it’s a really powerful thing.”

It is also encouraging people to share their stories online.
Ms Crows encouraged women to find and discuss issues that were impacting them.
And she said that if they were not able to do so, the internet could help.
